Rains have slowed a few things down, like pond preparation wrap-up, but the price is right so the membrane should be installed soon and we can seed the aquatic plants, other flora and fauna. (Should be a good field trip in that!)
Beautiful floors are going down in the new cabin and fixtures & appliances will follow. Lots of water and electrical system back-ups are now installed, so we can handle any kind of outage you could think of: water pressure pump, large storage tank, special filter, and on-line gas generator.
Interesting bird patterns as well: MANY Mirlas (Turdus fuscater) around, reminding me of my years in Bogotá. Parrots ALL OVER but stopping at the neighbor’s instead of here. ARGGHH!!! Surrounded by Whiskered Wrens, what with the developing thickets in the new land purchased across the road. Yellow-backed Orioles have some family who have moved in from nearby and are teaching their kin some new song lyrics…
AND we are starting the new compost pile and seeding it with earthworms to attact quail-doves, etc.
The Inca Jay JUST FINISHED raising a family before we had 2 days of noisy backhoe work going on 1 meter from the nest!
